How do I remove stain from plastic straps on lawn chairs?

I'd try several things before I'd give up. :) Of course, it depends on the fabric of the cushions. If it's pure cotton, the color might fade so be careful with these thoughts. First I'd try a thick mixture of baking soda and water. Put it on the cushions and lay them in the sun. Let them sit for a while, then spray with a mix of equal parts vinegar and water, scrub when it stops foaming, then rinse. The next thing I'd try would be hydrogen peroxide. I'd spray it on and again let it sit in the sun to see if that would remove the marks. If all that fails and you've tried other commercial products, you might think about painting or dying them. Depending on the fabric, you might be able to use fabric paint (or look up how to make your own with fabric medium) or maybe even spray paint. That depends on the fabric on your cushions. The plastic straps are probably just aged. Over time plastic tends to discolor and there's not much you can do about it. You might want to check and see if they are brittle because if they are brittle it may not be so safe to sit in the chair as they will break from weight. Depending on how the plastic strips are attached to the chair you might be able to replace them with some upholstery webbing. Try soaking them in a mix of water and Oxi-clean to see if you can remove the stains. The Oxi-clean will not damage your fabric. Try waxing your straps with a clear car wax to help prevent the transfer of color.

what is stained - the chairs, cushions ? are the chairs plastic or ?

Try hydrogen peroxide. I use it almost everything.

I used Johnson’s wax remover with a dollar store scrubby sponge. I believe the manufacturer coated the straps with something. This method removes most of the dark yellow.

my chairs were dark yellow in places on the top side but still white on the underside. No 2 chairs were stained the same, weird.
