Look for a paint that will work on plastic. In addition, scuff up the surface of the pot and also use a primer meant for plastic. Be sure the primer is dried and cured before actually painting the pot. (It should tell you on the label.) The brands Rustoleum and Krylon come to mind, but I'm sure there are others available.
