How to remove cigarette smoke from vent that comes from neighbors?
I need help! I live in an apartment and my next door neighbor is a smoker and she constantly smokes inside her home and from her doing that it seeps through all the air vents and into every room of my apartment! It’s discolored my walls yellow from the nicotine and I want to take matters into my own hands without trying to ruffle any feathers with anyone. Any cleaning ideas/tips/tricks/advice? Or any ideas how I can keep the smoke from coming through the vents?

Dryer sheets in vents adds nice smell , lets air in catches smoke
You can clean up cigarette smoke on your walls with this... 2 cups lemon ammonia (smells better than regular and cleans just as well), 2 cups water, 1 squirt dishwashing liquid all in spray bottle. I have used this many times and it hasn't seemed to ruin my paint. Also use anywhere you would usually use 409. As for the vents, try cutting up furnace vent filters to fit your vents and insert. I use the cheapest ones I can get that have the fiberglas mats in them not the accordian pleated ones. You can get them at Home Depot or Lowes.
i'm not sure about the vents, but my mom bought a place that had been smoked in. We tried several cleaners, but Mean Green was the most effective.
Definitely use the ac/furnace filters or if you can find charcoal filters (like those used in pond filters) that’s even better. I would stay away from dryer sheets because the synthetic fragrances can irritate allergies and asthma problems not to mention that some contain carcinogens. You could wrap thin washcloths around the filters and put essential oils on them to help freshen the air. On that note I would also avoid any Glade or Fabreeze products for the same asthma issues
For maintenance cleaning of nicotine stains and to combat the odors my company uses this all-purpose cleaner https://www.aromatherapynaturals.com/collections/all-natural-cleaning-products/products/natural-all-purpose-cleaner
Mrs Meyers all purpose concentrate works well too

For heavy duty deep cleaning of stained surfaces we use

they not only do an excellent job cleaning and disinfecting without toxic chemicals they also leave behind a delightful clean scent without using “covering” synthetic odors. Both Aromatherapy Naturals and Mrs Meyer Clean Day also have wonderful air fresheners made without synthetic fragrances.
Why would your neighbor's apartment vents be connected to your apartment vents? They should be separate. I would contact the landlord. There is a problem
