Hello. We sucessfully fixed our annoying newly installed (2015) kitchen hardwood floor squeak using one screw from a kit like this. The kits are in the big box hardware stores.
The screw is placed in the support below and the screw breaks off. Wax crayon covered the repar. Problem successfully solved.

We filled the holes from the countersink screws with matching Minwax wax colored crayon pencil. It effectively covered the hole created by the screw. They come in many colors— it perfectly disguised our repair hole defect.

Finally they do make a putty too, but I have never used that. The minwax wax crayons and markers have always worked nicely for my repair needs.

They need to be screwed down better could you get under the floor to screw under them like in the basement
