Mix store brand 5% white vinegar, in a spray bottle with at least 1/2 cup salt (from the kitchen. Put a squirt of dishwashing liquid. Spray on weeds on a hot day. Be aware if it hits other plants it will kill them as well.

  • "Best" is a matter of opinion. There are hundreds of recipes out there, it just depends what you have to kill and where it is located. Life is short and I don't mix up funky concoctions. I use: boiling water - 2 kettles a day year round, (I am in zone 9), Epsom salt followed by boiling water. Or plain old white vinegar. Method depends on the weed and location. My house is full of pets, so no chemicals that could harm them.

Mix vinegar, 1 gallon, salt, 1 cup, Dawn, 1 tablespoon, and spray on weeds. Be careful that you do not spray where you want anything else to grow because it will kill weeds but also make the ground unplantable. I use this on gravel between stepping stones and in cracks in the sidewalk and driveway. Vinegar alone will kill weeds but it takes awhile and they will come back. Adding the salt will keep anything from coming back.
