Hi Ruby,
I assume it is wooden furniture? I use mix of salt and mayonnaise and rub in circles. should gradually come out. the salt draws out the damp and the mayonnaise feeds the wood with oil.....good luck.
What kind of furniture WOOD- apply a layer of mayonnaise Leave it overnight, then wipe and buff with a clean cloth. No scrubbing needed. It's important to tackle the stain right away, before thewater soaks underneath the finish and stains thewood itself. GLASS-vinegar on a cloth let soak on area usescrubber pad/sponge or scrape with single edge razor blade. UPHOLSTERY-always try to blot as much of spillage when fabric is still wet from the original spill. Blot using a clean cloth until no more fluid can be pulled from the wet fabric. The more you blot, the higher your chance of not creating water ring on the fabric when it dries.
Blot the damp area with a clean cloth that has been dampened with vinegar solution. Blot gently from the outer edge of the stain towards the centre to prevent the stain from spreading. Do not rub as you may damage the fabric. To check for colour loss, you may consider blotting a hidden corner before “attacking” the damp spot.
Let the vinegar solution settle in the fabric for 15 minutes. Blot the damp area using the same method above with another piece of clean cloth that has been rinsed with warm water.
Repeat the above steps until water ring diminishes. Then blot dry using a clean dry cloth or you may dry the damp surface with a hair dryer that has been switched to cool air mode.LEATHER-slightly dampening a lint-free cloth and barely wetting the leather’s surface seam to seam from the water stain to the edge. This will help the stain to come out evenly with the rest of the leather as you cloth dry it out again. This method is advisable for suede and other unfinished leather, that cannot be properly cured by repeatedly cleaning it with a suede brush. Still, you can risk darkening your leather this way, so make sure to be very sparing with the water you use. For most leather, however, (especially finished leather) rubbing alcohol or leather cleaners, will be your best bet to safely clear up your leather water stain.Apply some rubbing alcohol to a cotton ball. Rub the water spot gently with the cotton ball. Go over the spotted area with a damp rag. An alternative to rubbing alcohol is white vinegar. Mix equal parts vinegar and water into a bowl, and dampen a rag with the solution. Work the water spot gently with the vinegar solution until it disappears.Avoid harsh rubbing, or you may damage the actual leather.Apply a leather conditioner to the leather once the stain has been removed. Because water may dry out the natural oil in the leather, the conditioner helps to replenish the oil.
I've also had luck with Tung or hemp oil reviving the wood and the water stains to bring it back to there natural look.
Mayonaise
Hi Ruby. Put a towel on the water marks. Then put your iron on low and place it on top of the towel. Wait 20 or 30 minutes. Then take a look. If the marks are still there, repeat the process.
