my grandparents always used “Spic and Span” cleanser and hot water. Wear protective gloves. Start at the top of the wall and work your way down the wall. Rinse with cold water after cleaning
It will depend on what type of walls you have and the build up. Swiffer type unit with microfiber cloths, a static microfiber cleaner, or even a mop can be used. A car wash sponge is one of my favorites for wipe downs of walls. Top to bottom is the best way.
If you need to remove odors, Odo-Ban is a great product. OrangeGlo is good for wood. Diluted vinegar in hot water for wallpaper or sheetrock/painted surface.
The easiest way to clean 10 years wall dirt is to paint them! That is what I would do. Other wise in my own home i use warm water and Simple Green. It is nontoxic and deodorizes and disinfects too. Hope this helps, Carla
Do not paint over dirty walls. The dirt reduces the adhesion capability of the paint.
If walls are textured plaster, scrub with a soft bristled brush or heavy rag dipped into slightly soapy water. Rinse with 1 cup distilled white vinegar in a pail of water and dry thoroughly. You can open windows or use fans to accelerate drying.
My way is using a 2 buck system a car wash sponge or a swiffer type mop with a microfiber pad. Vinegar water solution in first bucket, second bucket is plain water.
Or you can use TSP.
Ater 10 years I would consider repainting, and if that is your choice, I would use TSP. Let dry thoroughly then prime and paint.
