Can't afford to re-do our popcorn ceiling, so what is the best, mess free, way to clean them of the grime they seem to collect?

Hi Jenni, yes the popcorn ceiling can be a challenge to clean. Hope this is helpful. Put the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner and gently run it over the ceiling. This will remove dirt and cobwebs. You can also use a feather duster to cleanthe ceiling, but it your ceiling is very dirty, the vacuum is the better choice. Cooking grease and cigarette smoke can stain popcorn ceilings.

I use a microfiber duster that "grabs" dirt. Air is also a good cleaner. If they are very dirty, you might need to paint but that will make removal much more difficult in the long run.

We redid our popcorn ceilings for practically nothing. It was a lot of work but not that hard. We wet it, scraped it, and vacuumed up the mess (having sheets cover everything). Our neighbor did theirs and duct taped the scraper to the wet/dry vacuum handle! They had much less mess. The ceiling had like a texture to it (looked planned really) and we painted it white. It looked gorgeous. That was the best thing we could have done. For years after we only had to paint every few years. No more mess.

A good way to clean popcorn ceilings is with a long handle sticky. Have a bucket of warm water handy. Run your sticky on your ceiling then rinse off. Dry on old rag and start again. It will take off dirt, cobwebs and even the little pieces of duster that got left behind.

They used to have an advertisement on TV. In stead of a lint roller these are made with a sticky substance. I don't know how else to describe it.Lol
