How do you whiten grout between light colored floor tiles?

All Traffic areas seem to have black or grey grout. The main floor area is white. Makes floor look dirty. Do I use bleach and hands and knees scrubbing? Is there a sealer once I have them white again?

I have the silver grey grout and I use Clorox Toilet Bowl cleaner which does a great job for me. Put a bit of gel in the corners of four tile and then brush along the four tile grout lines, let sit for 10-15 minutes, then use the toothbrush again to scrub the lines. After that, use a sponge or cloth dipped in vinegar and warm water to remove the soap residue. When all is done then mop the floor again with the warm water and vinegar to make sure the floor shines comes totally clean. Keep on top of this once you have done the whole floor as you will notice that some areas that are used more will become dirty faster and so you can spot clean when necessary.. They would have to perfectly clean in order for you to seal them again and the sealer comes in a small bottle that has a nozzle on it for easy application.

Make sure the grout isn't colored grout. It may not be white. Toilket bowl cleaner actually removes some of the surface.

I use hot water and a toothbrush. When you clean your floors, the cleaning water will go to the grout lines because they are lower than the tiles, the dirty water/solution dries it will make it look dirty. I always clean the grout after cleaning the tiles really well, my grout is light colored, but at least not white so it doesn't show the dirt quite as fast. I have four dogs that constantly bring in dust, dirt and mud. Hubby uses a Swiffer mop on the kitchen tile, so I deep clean the tile and grout myself a couple of times a month at least ( I do that on hands and knees, the way I was taught when I was growing up.).
