How do I get rid of odor from cat pee?

I have a very bad kitty that decided it was ok to pee on carpet. How do I get rid of the smell?! Someone suggested vinegar, but it has to penetrate the padding as well...

I would pour full strength vinegar on the spot and let it go to the pad. This will help to neutralize the urine smell. Let the vinegar sit for about 30 minutes and then use a cloth dampened in water and dish liquid to wipe up the residue and keep doing that until you are happy with the results. Dry with a dry cloth or paper towels.

Nature's Miracle is an enzyme cleaner made to treat pet stains and urine smell. Follow the directions on the bottle. It requires treating the spot, letting the product sit, and then letting it dry slowly. You can find it in your local stores like Walmart, Menards, Lowes, K Mart in the pet section. You can also order it online from Amazon. I think it works better than vinegar to more throughly remove the urine odor.
