Oval platters don't have to be just for serving food. They can be enjoyed as giant Easter decor with some everyday materials and a little creativity. This is a great craft project to do with kids and adults alike. Even more fun if you're a vintage sewing trim collector!

Gather your vintage or new oval platters. They can be plain or patterned. Round up some vintage and/or new sewing trims also. This is a great way to enjoy vintage lace from old pillowcases. If you don't have vintage, you can purchase new trims from the fabric store. The only other thing you'll need is scotch tape and a scissors! You can use wall safe tape if you're worried about damage, but regular tape is fine, too.

Vary your trim options: grosgrain ribbon, rick-rack, ball fringe, vintage sewing and upholstery trims. The wider variety, the more fun you'll have!

Vintage crochet edging from old pillowcases can be fun for this craft project and a great way to repurpose it.

Play around with your "Easter Egg" design patterns. When you like the combination you've come up with, cut your trims to length with an inch or so to wrap around the back. Make little tape rolls to tape trims on the front of the plates and anchor with tape on the backside .

Make each oval platter Easter Egg different, just like you would when you dye Easter eggs.

Display your Oval Platter Easter Eggs standing up with other Easter related decor. Store with the ribbon on for next year, or simply take the taped trims off when the season's over.
