How to clean an old bathtub?

It is the original bathtub in the house. We have hard water and very difficult to keep the tub clean. Have tried many different products which haven't solved the problem of white streaks appearing within a few days. Tub is blue so streaks are obvious.

Could you try a water filter on the shower head to help prevent the minerals from forming on the tub?
