Should I paint the top of this desk?
I painted a 1950s Kreiss desk. I'm not sure if I should painted the top or leave it the natural wood grain. Any suggestions?

Get a glass top cut to fit. Then paint or leave whichever suits you.
Unless you put a coat or two of varathane over the top if you paint it, it will eventually scratch and mar.
paint it to match the dark(black) otherwise will be too much going on too busy. Should have left the whole desk wood-refinshing and restaining it again to it's original glory, well maybe when you tire of the color.real wood is timeless
Nice work. Looks good. Personally I love the mixture of paint and wood. If the surface is in good condition leave the top natural wood. Also love when drawer fronts are left natural wood. Gives the piece character.
Thank you all.
