How would you construct a fence to contain a mini poodle on a budget?

I need to fence-in my back yard which is right next to a natural park area in my community. The fence is to comply with the wishes of the owner of the 20 lb dog we are adopting. I was thinking post and rail with 12 gauge wire but am hoping you can give me more creative and economical ideas.we want our new family member and our neighbors to be happy.

Until you get a full fence put up, sink some of the plastic coated metal posts into the ground and make a mini pen for the dog. You can use chicken wire, or any other metal fencing that is cheap as long as the dog can't get the head and hips through. You can get the posts in gardening centers in different lengths and widths for a few doors a piece. That way you can at least get the dog and have a way to keep it penned up until you can finish a full fence. Make the temporary spot big enough for it to be able to run and play, perhaps the previous owner will agree to something like that temporarily until you can finish the main fencing to keep the dog in.
