I have a photo in a frame that must have gotten damp and the photo is stuck to the glass. The picture is from our honeymoon. Unfortunately, I lost my husband to cancer 6 months ago, so the photo is priceless to me. Thanks!!

You can take a picture of the picture. Leave the one in the frame alone. Took many pictures at my late uncles estate.

    Before attempting to do anything.

First I suggest you make some copies. Scan it to your compuer if you have a 3 in 1 printer. You can go to Staples or Office Depot to get photo quality prints.

Wrap in some newspaper to protect it from damage. Place it in the freezer for an hour, wearing rubber gloves to protect hands in event glass breaks. Remove photo and glass from the freezer, open the paper, gently pull up on the corner of the photo, it should come away from the glass.

Soak the photo and glass in warm water. May take quite a while before you notice it separating. Gently peel the photo off. Lay it down on a towel and place a towel on top and weigh it down. Let it dry slowly. Don't try speeding it up with a blow dryer or microwave. You can melt the emulsion and destroy the photo.

Best is to take a digital photo through the glass I tried removing a 1930s photo of my dad that was stuck to the glass. It did come away, mostly, but ripped right by his face. (It was a group picture.) Now, I try to put mats between the photo and the glass. I trim them down to a quarter inch so they don't show, but keep the glass off the photo. Good luck!
