I too find spring cleaning over whelming. The best approach I found is to do one room at a time. Concentrate on EVERYTHING getting a cleaning from floor to ceiling (if the ceiling cannot be washed then think of the lights, light fixtures and ceiling fans). I wipe everything down on the walls first. Then I do the furniture on one wall at a time, for example the cabinets cleaned out and wiped down. Purge , purge , purge anything not used in the past yr must be sold, given, or thrown out. Drawers the same way and so forth, then next wall has a built in hutch and I do the same etc. If you have to, work on a room a month or a week but set a reasonable goal and pace yourself good music playing or headphones for motivation. Don't be afraid to enlist the family. Children can help organize their drawers and toys etc with you working with them, any other adults in the house too. If you want a list, here is one I use. You can be more or less thorough, this is just a middle of the road goals.

Hi this is Peggy. I start with the living room (first room you see when you come into our home). Move all furniture, dust , vacuum and mop the hardwood floors, knock down all the cob webs, and dust and clean the baseboards. Next is windows if its not raining. Next I tackle the next room and repeat the process. I like cleaning some rooms more than others, so I usually save the dreaded bathrooms for last. Just keep plugging away and before you know it your Spring cleaning will be done. Good luck.
