I have a wooden bench that is outside and has mold on it . I would like to redo it. What is the best way to clean it? Should I stain it or paint and what are the best products to use since it will be outside? Thank you. Terri

Pressure wash then sand and stain and varnish or primer and paint

I have used exterior house paint on outside wood furniture. It holds up very well to the weather and you can scrub it clean with a bucket of warm soap water and hose it off. My wooden picnic table has held up for years with no repainting. If you decide to stain your bench make sure you put a on a final coat or two of exterior spar varnish.

Thank you so much for the info! If I decide to paint it do I need to put some type of coating over the paint?

If you use exterior paint on your outside furniture you do not need to seal with with any other finish. If you use any other kind of paint I would seal it with exterior marine spar varnish to protect it from the weather.

Clean it good with Clorox and a brush and let it dry completely in the sun before doing anything to it. If you want to leave it natural put a coat of Thompson's Water Seal on at least once a year. If you paint use a good exterior paint and again clean and repaint at least once a year.
