I usually dust first with a damp cloth and then vacuum but I know it's a popular topic to disagree on! When I worked with a cleaning lady she always stressed vacuuming last as the clients like seeing the vacuum marks on the carpet with no footprints! The dust will return either way!
Hello I agree with the above- just in case the dust particles are disturbed and migrate down towards lower surfaces that a vacuum will pick up.
