Hello Katherine! You will learn to recognize the difference between a weed and flower as you gain more experience in your garden. Some weeds are easy to distinguish-like dandelions-but others are a bit more difficult especially when they are just popping up. Weeds are basically plants that you don't want in your garden! https://www.teleflora.com/blog/weeds-vs-flowers-whats-the-difference/

I think it's a preference on many of them. There's a little purple "flower" I love that most people consider a weed. Clover is another item that is a toss up.

A weed is one you wouldn't eat and one that doesn't bloom or fit in with your landscaping.

weeds grow faster and multiply and they are usually where you do not want them. Weeds can be eaten depending on the weed...most plants can be used for something.

You may not want dollar weeds..( I know I don't)..while I have a yard full of Heal-all which is definitely a weed..but is used to make a mouth wash if you have sore gums...and the flowers are interesting surprises.

Get a good herbal and decide what you have in your yard and if you want it or not. If you want it..is a flower...if not, its a weed.

If you don't like it, pull it out before it multiplies. Some plants that are good for my area may be invasive and weedy in others.

Weeds are a nuisance and grow much faster that the regular annuals or perennials (many years coming up on their own). Weeds you can be rid of by spot spraying with vinegar. Flowers come in all sorts of heights, colours and design. I would suggest that you take a stroll around your local garden center to see what is available and get to recognize some of the more interesting flowers and shrubs. You can always ask someone there which grow best for your area. You need to know what planting Zone you are located in just in case you want to purchase shrubs which may have to overwinter in a cold area. Folks wandering around garden centers are usually in a good mood and they will be happy to help you out when you are looking at something that catches your fancy. Happy gardening!!

Will plants/grass grow after you use the vinegar? Thanks

No, vinegar will kill grass as well as weeds so be very careful where you use it

A weed is any plant that’s in an undesirable area. Even flowers can be weeds. It all depends on what is growing where.
