Hello, I have the same problem, regret not making the screen porch larger. The sun is much too intense and hot.
My neighbor put up the sail -carabiner shades, they are very effective and attactive, withstood stormy weather, but Im nort sure about winter and snow, if they will be removed or not.
A pergola would be more substantial and structural but not as budget friendly.
