Birdhouse Trellis (Fence) of Many Colors

I just love birdhouses and after seeing a couple of the fences I fell in love with the idea.
So now it was my turn to give it a try. With the help of my husband this is what we came up with! I hope you like it.

This is the finished product.

Used 1 x 4 x 6 ft dog eared fence boards which we had already (can use pallets). We cut them in half making it about 3 ft high and painted then as to the colors we already had. They soon become different heights. We had lots of extra fence pieces around which we used to make the roof tops. If you noticed they were stained and placed at different shapes and sizes.

Now that they have the roof tops on and different heights, also drilled the little holes and placed the little perch posts on. Now its time to just connect them together at width you want. We used two 3 ft boards one at the bottom and one just below the holes. Bingo! Basically its done.

How do you set this in the ground?

We placed pointed wood steaks. Like you would use for cement forms, we stapled them on the backs and hammered them in the ground. We did about three across and they have stayed with no problem. Sorry it took so long to answer you. Merry Christmas !

I will try this next! Always looking for ideas to reuse the picket fence type boards that are used for foundation pours. After the foundation has hardened the support boards are pulled up and you havethse cute little boards. Cut, sand and paint then stick them in the yard.

These bird houses made from pickets are so cute. Love the bright colors. Since you have cut holes in them, one could add a box to the back so that the birds can actually get of the inclement weather. Love these.
