Building a removable wall with old doors

I have to divide a room into 2 ( basement) and can't fix the new wall through ceiling,floor and walls. We rent our home and the new wall has to be removable without damaging the room. We have a lot of old doors that we kept for this kind of project, I wonder how to build a frame that would hold the doors together and stay put? The new wall would be 18 feet wide and 8 feet tall.

You could probably frame it like a wall with 2x4's. I think you can screw into the walls and fix the holes when you leave. We divided our basement with a "wall" of bookcases and RTA cabinets.You could use these between some of the doors to make them freestanding.

I think the idea of using book cases or cabinets is a great idea. If you need to be able to move the wall you could put the bookcases and/or cabinets on casters

i know if you hinge doors together; think about how you are doing this; you could have them free stading in an accordian style look; as long as little kids are not running into them they should stand in place. do you get what i mean. you can use so many for one set and whatever for the second set(like a dressing room screen) hope this helps; second idea; put a tall book case on either side;perhaps one in the center; screw a curtain rod from left one to middle one on the front; go to othr side of middle one and do a curtain rod from there to one on right. hang curtains.

I really think you could screw the doors together by attaching lengths of 2x2's across the tops and the bottoms. I don't think you need to go to all the trouble of framing the whole thing besides the expense. You can put a metal bracket on one or both ends to attach to the wall or walls. This way you could have one door that is actually usable. This would be easy to remove and spackle holes and paint walls.

We had a space in our house called a "playroom" just off the den. it was 25'x25' with 2 metal poles in the center of the room. I loved it! All the kid's junk went into boxes around the room, we put in low pile carpet and they could even skate in there on rainy days. Then came teenagers and it was turned into "Teenville". The oldest had his own space. We did not want the expense of construction so we put in bookcases. The bed was behind them with a ratty old sofa in the "den" side! It was fabulous! You could even look for some large pieces to use as storage...such as entertainment cabinets people are practically giving away because the are putting their TVs on the wall!

Like the accordion idea bur this is a long stretch - I would be worried about stability. They would have to be secured perhaps as Diane Arnold suggested. Making a barrier out of bookcases is a good idea if you have existing.furniture to do this.
