Stained Tags: A DIY Tutorial

Start with a box of shipping labels, some water, coffee, and cinnamon and a little later you can have some of these versatile stained tags.
Here are some sweet Halloween tags...use the stained tags as a base then stamp or paint your sentiment or words...Embellish with cheesecloth, buttons, rosettes, or paper punches.
Add hot water to either a strong pot of coffee or 1/2 cup instant coffee.
If you want, add some ground cinnamon.
Submerge tags completely in the solution and allow them to soak 1-8 hours depending on how dark you want them stained. After soaking, remove them and spread them out to dry on trays or an old window screen.
After they are dry, I love to run mine through my Sizzix Big Kick in embossing folders to add texture. A little swipe with a stamp pad emphasizes the embossing....
This sweet little tag has 2 quick coats of chalkboard paint. The word HOPE is actually stamped on with white paint...
I use the stained, textured tags to make business cards.... Each tab contains info for our etsy shops, blog, contact info, etc.
