My husband's office has a sloped ceiling and we need a ceiling fan in there. What kind of ceiling fan can we buy? Thanks, Patriann pwilky66@yahoo.com

  • You can buy whatever you wish that fits in the space allotted. Do you have power where you want to hang it? If not, you will need to call in an electrician to run you a line.

That was not my question. We have power. I was told there were certain ceiling fan you can use for a sloped ceiling. That's what I was wondering not about power. Thanks anyway. I'll go to Lowes and find out.

    • As long as the ceiling fan has enough clearance or down rod so the blades do not scrape the ceiling. What you can't use is a "flush mount" type fan. Go to any decent lighting store, they will have many styles to choose from. Once you see them, you will understand. To me, it's just common sense and proper measuring.

Any ceiling fan that requires a down rod will work. Just make sure the down rod is long enough so the fan blades will not hit the ceiling where it slopes if the box is close to a wall. Also you need to be sure the box in the ceiling is rated for a ceiling fan and not just an ordinary electrical box. ideally you would want the bottom of the fan to be no lower than 7 feet from the floor.

There are down rods that have a swivel. Just be sure to get one long enough for the blades to clear
