I would lay a thick layer of paper towels over the wax and then use my iron on warm to iron over it. The melting wax will be absorbed by the paper towels.
Use an iron and an old rag. Put the rag over the wax and press the hot clothes iron to it allowing time for the wax to melt and absorb into the rag. Repeat until you get the results you want.
Once the wax is gone, use a degreaser cleaner like ammonia to rid any excess. May have to sand, prime and paint area if stained.
I think if you hold a cotton towel , or paper towel on the wall and iron on the towel it will melt the wax into the cloth
