A Play With Provence

This french buffet was purchased by a client who is in the process of renovating her home. The buffet is to be situated in a room off of her kitchen. She sent me a picture of her new kitchen's blue tile backsplash that she wanted to tie in with the buffet. We decided to make the blue a base color and add a wash on top. The wash softens the blue and ties it in without making it too "matchy".
The original buffet had deep scratches along the top but otherwise was in great shape.
Here is a board showing the blue tile and how the dark wax and wash changed the original color - Annie Sloan's Provence - into a better match with the tile. The original color is shown in between the drawers.
The piece is finished. I happen to love how the color changes in the light from bright blue to an almost green blue. The wash highlights the lovely lines of the piece.
I lightly touched up the vintage pulls with paint to have them tie in with the piece and not stand out.
The finished piece has a gorgeous, smooth top and the whole piece was clear waxed for a durable finish.

Be still my heart. What a wonderful piece of furniture to begin with and you went on to make it even more so. Great job.
