First of all, this is a full or possibly queen bed. A king is wider and you will have to come up with some ideas you like for extending the panel you wish to use. It might be cutting it down the center and spreading it with other trim wood along with adding the extra at the edges such as this bed did. Measure and dream...

Hi @LinJ47 I'm sure @Vintage Headboards would know the answer. I assume they don't service your area but maybe they can give you some tips or steer you in the right direction. Good luck!

That is beautiful! What a great use for it. Reminds me of a wonderful old mantle.

A little imagination and you could add a shelf and side table to extend this...put it just below where the carving ends.

Great project. We had a great Customer that had an old upright piano that she grew up playing on as a little girl. When she was moving the movers dropped it and the only thing that was salvageable was the main piece behind the stand that hold the piano music. She asked us to incorporate that into a piano headboard for her. She selected the colors and finish and together we came up with a design that worked for her.

Love this idea! My husband is a piano tuner/technician and we often get asked if we want someone's old piano. I usually tell them no unless we can just have the fancy music desk(the part they've used here) and any other fancy part, such as scrolly corbels below the keyboard, and the ivory keys if they're real ivory. My parent's have a piano with fancy parts that would work great for this project...some day :-)

@ thanks for the mention. We had a Customer about a year and a half ago bring us the headpiece of an old upright piano that we made a headboard for her. It was a very emotional experience as she grew up playing on the piano and the movers dropped it and the piece we used was the only salvageable piece remaining to remind her of when she was a young girl first learning to play. We ship our headboards nationwide. We do offer a set of complete plans on our website if you are interested that will help you if you are a DIY person. I have a couple of 150 year old interior doors that we hope to finish up as our headboard (hanging them upright and side by side)....some day. Hope to show the results here once complete.
