Furniture Update: Creating After School Storage

I had been living with a messy entryway for years. We wanted a place where for the kids to store their items after school, but I just hadn't figured a way to make it pretty.
A sweet neighbor was selling two of these thirty year old Thomasville pine cabinets for a SONG ($20 each!) and when I saw them, inspiration struck!
See this? This mess is what greeted guests to my house! I just quickly ushered them into other places in the house and hoped they didn't notice. Functional? Yes. Pretty? Not a chance!
I'd recently acquired this removable wallpaper and was looking for reasons to put it to good use. I mean come on ... those bees!
A little paint to match the wallpaper - even after the first coat, I was getting so excited about the transformation!
I found my PERFECT accent color, too!
A few hours and some innovation later - I had a MUCH more presentable storage solution. I LOVE how this turned out - especially considering it was my very first time so dramatically redoing any furniture pieces.

      What a great idea!

I think I'll leave the door on mine and put hooks inside to hang coats put bags below. Oh I forgot to tell you that I have one of those cabinets also .

I would add a bar between the two cabinets, place a drip tray on the floor and have a place to hang raincoats when needed. My bathroom has a separate tub and shower. I have also added a closet pole above the tub and use that to hang wet clothes (the kids bathing suits) until dry.
