Sound barrier board or material for walls?

Hi. We have one room in our house dedicated to a music recording studio. My husband is in search of the best, easiest, --& most economical-- board or material to attach to all walls to prevent sound coming in & out of the room. He found "Quiet-rock" as a good choice, but no one here carries it. He's looking for something besides cement board. He'll close off the window too and add this board/material. Any other material/board suggestions? Thanks!

You could try putting "egg crate" type bed toppers for sound insulation. it's not a perfect sound barrier, but the price is right. Here are a couple of other suggestions: http://www.hometalk.com/search?filter=soundproofing&search=&zipcode=#!/13340

Thanks SteveG. Ha, he's actually using one right now over the window (temporarily) until he can find something else. It's a good idea, certainly inexpensive. Thx for the link too.

Quite rock is a special order type of item that normally needs to be purchased at suppliers not the home centers. Stuff is expensive, but its not all that you think. Sound travels by vibration.
