How can black metal (iron) stains be removed from hardwood floor?

My metal plant stand left black stains when water from the plants left moisture under the plant stand.

What type of floor is it? Tiles can easily be cleaned with Bar Keepers Friend. Wood it another matter, because you will probably have to sand the floor down a bit.
