Should I plant all rhodos along the fence and if so how many?

my husbands late wife planted this lovely red rhododenron plant 5 years ago along the back fence .I love admiring it in the summer when it has the most beautiful red blooms ,it is stunning.my problem is i have many plants in pots and would like to plant next to it.I planted a white rhodendron next to it but have to transplant as it is to close to the fence.I have 2 white rhodos ,1 josee lilac,1 hydrangea,all which like dappled sun i think?.my friend said plant a purple rhodo next to it and then in the far right corner the white rhodo.My question is should i plant all rhodos along the fence and if so how many?the area is around 30 - 40 feet.Any advice would be so helpful as i am a new gardener thank you
Visit your local nursery to get more information for your area and project. A lot depends on sun, soil and personal desire. They can best help you knowing your climate, etc.
I live in nanaimo b.c canada and the climate is a zone 8 i believe.The nursery charges that is why i am using the forum for advice for my question
do you have a master gardener program available in your area? part of the master gardener is to assist local areas with land scaping-usually no cost to home owner.
it is possible to work with a landscape company - they draw up a plan, you plant it. you get the plant materials from any source you want.

How many white Rhodes total? Counting the one you have move
That rhodo is doing well so obviously you could plant others there if you wanted to. The question is do you want to? I would put other plants in that flower different times of the year so you always have something blooming. Look up in your local agriculture site to see which plants will do best in your area. You may also want to plant a flowering tree (dogwood or something) that will give you a different texture and height/movement. Be careful to plant for the future and remember what size your chosen plants will get as you plant. I like variation in my gardens so I would mix and match but that is my choice.
I love hostas and they are absolutely a no-maintenance plant. They grow in shady spots very well and come in a wide variety of colors, shape and leaf style. They do look lovely along a border or in a row. You'd probably want to play one every 3 feet or so.

hi everyone,I have decided to plant the hydrangea next to the rhodo and then put the other rhodo white in the far right corner,in otherwords the hydrangea will be in the middle.how far should i plant them from each other?will transplant rhodo that is up against fence further out.
Give your rhododendrons plenty of space because they get big. I planted mine 5’ apart and they are grown now and touching each other. Tag will tell you how far apart to plant. Just remember to plant your hydrangea far enough from rhododendron so it has plenty of room.Added evergreen azaleas would work too. That way your entire fence will be covered with beautiful greenery with your hydrangea. I love my rhododendron even when it’s not in bloom, the foliage is pretty.
thank you for the advice for spacing and planting the rhododendrons.what color evergreen azaleas and how far in front of the rhodos would they need to be planted?Do you plant them closer to the base of the rhodos?
