I concur, I would definitely take them off and spray paint - Rustoleum have a bronze spray paint here in the UK, check local stockists ans see what you can find. Ensure the brand state they will cover the material of your drawer pulls (metal, plastic, wood). When working with spray it is best to do think light coats and build the colour up to avoid drips.
