I use Dawn detergent. 1/2 cup maybe. Let it sit. A while. Flush. Repeat if necessary. Had a stubborn one just recently left it for a few hours after the water had come all the way to the rim. Cam back and water had gone down and was able to flush again. Worked for me.

    Hi Judith,

I'd first try about 1 cup of baking soda and 2 cups of vinegar. Pour them both into the toilet and let them sit a while so that they have time to work. Pour warm water in to flush it down. If that doesn't get it, then a snake or toilet auger should help. Wishing you the best.

    Hi Judith,

    Several methods to do this.

First of course is the plunger, be sure you have a toilet plunger and not a sink one.

If still clogged use hot water with dishsoap, heat it on the stove and add some dishsoap, you dont want it boiling because you could melt the wax ring, making a bigger mess. Pour this into the toilet from an elevated point so the heated water and force of the water hits the area where the contents go down.

Still clogged? Get a snake from a diy store.

Last resort, cll the plumber, you may have a clog further down the line, they have cameras and can observe what is causing the problem and do something about it.
