How to anchor an outdoor storage shed?

What is the best way to anchor an outdoor storage shed? We recently had some very strong winds come through our area and my outdoor shed was knocked down. The shed is not destroyed but in pieces. I want to put it back together, but want to make sure the roof stays on so the walls done collapse.

Hurricane straps are sold at any building supply store. They are usually near the lumber and joist hangers. That's probably your best bet.

Santiago, my husband put pallets inside our shed from wall to wall. Make sure it’s level. He laid plywood over it and screwed the pallets to the bottom of the shed. So far it is still standing. 10 years.

You need to use the drill to drill in some long crews from the top plate of the wall to the rafters in the roof. There should be a double plate (boards) at the top for strength. If they are not there and the roof is off then add another layer of 2X4 or whatever you used for the wall and drill them to the top of the wall and then attach the roof.

We once had an entire metal shed blow away in a storm. Fortunately my neighbors fence was where it landed & the fence kept it from blowing away to who knows where! LOL Once we retrieved it & fixed it back up ( got the dents hammered out, etc ) my husband built a base from railroad ties, nailed that into the ground, then secured the shed onto it by nailing thru the metal sides directly into the railroad ties. It never blew away again :) As for keeping your roof on, I also recommend what Joy explained to do. Good Luck!
