How to fix up painted tongue and groove ceiling?
We’re installing a tongue in groove pine wood ceiling. We want to white wash it so some of the grain shows through. We diluted Behr ceiling paint 2 Pts paint to 1 pt water. It looked great but it didn’t fill in the grooves. We rolled on the paint & now it lks like it’s too opaque. This is a small part of the ceiling. What can we do???

You can take a small brush and paint in the grooves. Then give the entire ceiling another coat. I would be very careful and make sure your brush stays in the grooves as you paint the grooves because if you stray into the flat part of your boards you might have overlap marks and you will be able to see them. If you think your paint is too opaque add a bit more paint to your second coat. I would do the second coat first however.
Thanks. We did the small brush after the first coat, although I’d suggested doing the groove first. So hindsight is 20/20.
Im wondering if using a spray painter would work, at least for the remaining 2 rooms. I’m still looking for a whitewash look.
I would use a small brush to do cracks the way you want
Hi, I would use the brush and finish it off, you can always do some strategic sanding in spots to bring back the grain look, you may even be able to remove some of the whitewash with thinner
Thanks so much for the advice!
