Hello! We sucessfully fixed our annoying kitchen hardwood floor squeak a few week ago using one screw from a kit like this. The kits are available in the big box hardware stores.

The screw is placed in the support below and the screw breaks off. Wax crayon covered our HW repair. Problem sucessfully solved.

This kit can be also used in carpeted areas with squeaks using the other accessory.

  That's interesting. How close together did you put the screws in and how did you determine exactly where to put them?

  Actually it took a few days of getting the nerve up to do the repair, it was the first time using this type of repair device. Watched a few Youtubes on doing this to get the comfort level up. We used a stud finder and did sone knocking on the hw floor planks placed one single screw where we expected the stud to be and the annoying squeek was totally eliminated.
  One single screw solved the trouble! I hope this helps.
