Hang the TV above the fireplace on the wall where you can lay in bed and watch it.
There are entertainment centers that have electric fireplaces built in.
Does your bedroom have window? If it does you should invest in some black out curtains or at the very least ones that darken the area during the day time.
If the room is large sized you might want to go with medium sized speakers. If it is small you could possibly get away with cube speakers just make sure they put out enough sound.
Buy components according to what you need not by price.
One thing people often overlook is cables needed and the price (they aren't cheap).
I set up a home theater in my bed room. I purchased gaming system and a TV card. The computer can play and record TV, and the dvd can play dvd movies and games. I then purchased a 46" computer monitor (yes they make them) and I hung it on the wall. I then acquired nature sound and fire place video to relax to. You Tube has all kinds of videos and some with music. The gaming system needs a large hard drive to record video. This is my home theater setup.
Invest in black out curtains and a wireless surround sound system.
