a paint formulated for kitchens, I like a satin finish.
Hi ! I used Benjamin Moore 's advance paint about $40 . The reason I chose this paint , was mainly for ease of use , no sanding or primer needed !!! That alone was good enough for me ! But the paint itself , is great ! It is a hybrid style paint , washes off hands and brushes with soap and water but dries to a hard finish like an enamel
It is also self leveling , which means you won't have any brush strokes or roller marks . Even though you don't need get sand , you still need some prep work , mostly cleaning , I used 2 products from Krud Kutter , first a de greaser , next a de glosser. You can see my step by step in my tutorial I posted on this site called
New kitchen on a budget . Good luck with your re do !
I would use a top grade primer and then the color of your choice in acrylic (you will need mineral spirits to clean up and a good grade paint brush for acrylic paint). Take doors and hardware off, being sure to mark on the inside of cabinets and doors to know which goes where after you are done painting. When the two coats of paint are thoroughly dry, then seal the painted surfaces with two coats of a good clear polyurethane. There are water based, quick dry urethanes on the market. Good luck!
I used Valspar Cabinet paint when I painted mine - check it out here: https://happydealhappyday.com/how-to-paint-kitchen-cabinets-without-sanding/
I used General Finishes’ milk paint on mine. It was easy to use and required minimal prep work and very little hand sanding. I love the results! You can see my cabinets and how I painted them here: http://momhomeguide.com/my-painted-kitchen-cabinets-a-year-later/
You can use chalk paint. No sanding or priming required. Just make sure it is cleaned well before you paint it. I love Decoart's chalk paint line
