How do I cover kitchen tile back splash?

I have a small kitchen with very dated tile. I would like to paint or paper over it what is the most durable? I have very limited skills. If has to be something that I can do myself. Thanks

You can paint tile, with the proper binding primer & paint.
I would go to a full line pro paint store & they will guide you.
