I like round up. (here is a shopping link for it) It kills everything and the soil is ready to plant in about 1 week. My dad has used it for decades and so have I.
I'm so sorry to hear you've had cancer. I understand the link they've tried to make between round-up and cancer is very suspicious... I think it's quite difficult to pinpoint one thing that has contributed to a person getting cancer... it could very easily be many contributing factors. I'm not sure how they could say because someone used round up and now has cancer they got it from that. Did they take into account the number of people that have used round up over many many years that haven't gotten cancer? But I'm not a cancer specialist... I'm a decorator and gardener. :) Take care.
