We've dealt with this for far too long ourselves! I wanted floor outlets but since that doesn't seem to be an option at this point in time, we finally bought the rubber type cord hiders that run along the floor. They come if several neutral colors so they do tend to blend with the floor ok. The cords lay flat inside the grooves of the covers so they are at least contained and hidden. We did the same with all the cords running to our Tv. We ziptied them to the back of the cabinet, then hid the rest from the TV to the outlet. You can get cord hiders/covers at most big box hardware stores or online. It's not perfect, but looks waay better!

Cord covers are available at office supply stores. The are small diameter tubes that have a slit on one side to feed the cord into. Once the cord is in place, the tube sides click shut to hold the wires. Most cord covers can be painted to match the walls. You need to know how many feet of the covers to get. I have surround sound speakers the covers are on the wires for those. If you need to put the wire over a door, there are parts that are L shaped to get arround corners

Gather up the excess cord and secure it behind whatever they come out of. The home improvement stores carry sizes that will fit one or multiple cords and have all types of corners and curves to get you to your wall plug. Like another poster said, they aren't perfect, but they really do make it look much better. Paint them to match your wall color.
