Dogs have dug holes. I need to put dirt to level yard out to replant seed. Any suggestions on keeping dogs out of the area.

You can put up a temporary fence to keep them out. But certain breeds of dogs are just diggers and you'll be right back where you are now. The solution would be to give them an area to dig up (somewhere out of the way) and train them so they know they're allowed to dig there and not everywhere else.

Hi Keli: Yes, I'd put a temporary fence up while you're seeding, or sodding. Put their poop in the holes and they won't want to dig there any longer. I had trained my dogs to go in a certain area. Like kids, make a fuss when they go where you want them to go. Take them out on a leash and stay with them until they do their business, then a fuss and a treat. It may take a few days or weeks, but they will get the idea. Good luck

my dog was digging into my flower bed and going pee on my grandsons slide, my solution was oranges! my dog hates the smell, I rubbed a cut orange on the bottom of the slide and put the peel anywhere he was digging. it took 3 days of reapplying when the scent fadded, now if I see him starting to dig I just show him an orange, no more digging or peeing where he shouldn't be. good luck! ( I tried the bitter apple spray and other sprays from the pet store they did nothing) it was a happy accident with the orange, was eating one and when Spencer came to me I let him smell it and he turned right around and left.
