had a hard winter!!
My dad used to put round cages made of heavy chicken wire around the base of the tree. He used v shaped piece of metal pounded into the ground to hold them in place. Just keep several inches of space between the tree and the wire wrap.
Perhaps put rabbit food out for them some distance away from your yard. Place a trail for them to follow...
Hi Marian: You can make a mixture of 16 oz of water and a bottle of Oil of Clove or Clove Oil, same thing, in a spray bottle. Mix it well and spray it around your trees. It smells nice, but tastes horrible. It's non-toxic, so it won't hurt anything or any one. You can buy the oil at any candy making store or your local grocery store may carry it. It comes in a bottle about 2 inches tall and only costs a couple of bucks. Once the rabbits taste it, they will give the area a wide berth when they smell it! Also, put some rabbit food out for them - my wild rabbits don't like lettuce or carrots or the wild rabbit food or Timothy hay I buy them! But, they do like bread:) Try different rabbit type foods to see if they like them. Good luck!
Thank you Betsy!
