How do I keep my basement dry? It isn't really wet, just damp in a corner and I would like to put up dry wall and paint the floors for a play room for my grandkids

You need to take care of that wet corner or mould will grow and rot your new walls. This probably is a job for professionals. Get a few quotes for the waterproofing. Sometimes it’s as simple as grading the yard near the house.

I have scrubbed with a mold cleaner and put on paint that was supposed.to be a barrier , but still a little damp. Grade on hard is good, the house was built in 1940 so it may need some tweaking. Thanks

Get a dehumidifier and use it. Your home will be much healthier. And as said above solve the original moisture problem that can be anything from gutters to the slope of the yard or seater leak.
