How do I keep birds off my patio?

Birds keep flying on my patio and pooping all over everything. I have an old dog, and they used to get in his food. I started not letting his bowl stay out. His water bowl is still out, but they don't bother it.

I have seen some balconies, where the owners have put up some type of screen to cover the opening. Maybe you could use the netting that is meant for fruit trees & affix that to the opening, between the balcony rim & the roof or the balcony above you?

Stop feeding the dog on the patio unless you are out there to keep birds away. No food, no birds.

IKR, I thought if I moved the food, they wouldn't find it :), but he's old and he eats soooo slow

If you leave the food out you may end up with more problems than birds. Rats love dog food as well. Feed him in another place in the yard or in the house, if you let him in the house. Keep his food in a sealed container. You must have a lot of birds to have this problem!

just make sure your poor old guy can find the food and ants don't get all over him and food. Let the old guy spend the rest of his life inside with you.
