How often do seeds need to be watered?

I'm starting an herb garden. I have my seeds in their little pots. They haven't sprouted up yet. How often do I water them? Does the soil need to stay moist until they sprout?

Water lightly then cover loosely with Saran Wrap or plastic....should help.
