Sunlight! Moss grows in moist, humid, damp, shady areas. Spores are in the air and moss will regrow from them. Cut back bushes and trees to let in sunlight.

increase sun & air circulation; remove moisture....check for any overgrown trees, shrubs, plants cut them back; improve drainage or reduce watering. You can physically remove it but if growing conditions are not changed your wasting your time since it will most likely return. some people say lime but that could increase growth depending on make up of soil-and can kill beneficial microbes in the soil itself which create healthy growing conditions. Just be patient and wait about 1 more month til after spring and summer begins it should start to dry up(depending where you live) try first things I listed then you can buy commercial type moss killer or These, but will kill other stuff growing like grass, baking soda, applying vinegar or lemon juice directly to moss will slowly kill the moss by changing the pH of the area,it works like the lime.

I like the idea of killing moss with water and dish soap. I might try that on my patio. If you could reduce the shade in the area, that would definitely work.
