    You can try predator urine, like fox or coyote to repel the cats.

    I had this problem many years ago and read somewhere that orange peel would work as cats don't like the smell. I did use the orange peel and it worked but of course you can see it in the gardens. One day while at a dollar store I saw a bottle of spray cleaner that was orange scented and got an idea. I bought a bottle and sprayed it on the gardens fairly early in the spring and it did the trick. Re-sprayed periodically when I could not smell the orange any more.
