I put cheap white flour around them in the spring. I don't know what Lubber grashoppers are, but it works for whatever kind I have.

I found that the lubbers generally lay eggs around the bottom of clumping, strappy leaf plants, like crinum lily, agapanthus, etc. When I notice the little immature rubbers I generally try to irradicate them, manually, then. They are black, about 1" long and have either yellow or red stripes along the side of their bodies. I usually don't like killing anything, because everything has it's place and function. But lubbers are so very destructive and multiply so fast. Just a quick squeeze, it's over, no chemicals, no affect on any other life form. ....
