How to add a stone walk way to existing fire pit area?

I put in a round firepit area in my backyard with tan stones, I have a beautiful wall of flowers near it buthave to walk 10 feet through what used to be grass and is now mud. I do have a dog who is in this yard a lot who liketo dig so whatever I put down has to be dog proof. Id like it to look as natural as possible and compliment themy wall and firepit. Looking for suggestions. thank you

What about a simple pea gravel path? You could make it look organic.
